Additional notes on Villages:

  • The city must fill people’s essential need for community
  • Humans do best when they have a close knit community or tribe of 100-200 people
  • Consider constructing living arrangements into groups of villages
  • Social services can be decentralized around these villages
    • Daycare
    • Primary schools
    • Health Clinic
    • convenience store
    • Apartments clustered together
  • Communal shared spaces:
    • Recreation
    • Gyms
    • Gardens
    • Lounges/bars
    • Canteens
    • Daycares
    • laundry areas
  • Communal shared resources
    • Gardening Tools
    • Sporting Equipment
  • Private Resources
    • Apartment
      • 1-3 Bedrooms +Closets
      • Bathroom
      • Living room + kitchenette
    • Clothes
    • Notebook/Phone
    • Personal Items
  • Public meeting rooms and work areas.
    • Meeting rooms can be booked by anyone for a small fee.
    • Work areas can be spread out but designed to allow people to feel connected:
      • Semi-outdoor facing playgrounds so people can work while their kids play.
      • Near primary schools for the same reason.
      • Connected to the lounge/pub areas.
    • This lets corporations save money by not needing offices, encourages more walking during the day, and encourages more efficient use of space. People can use their private apartments as private work areas.
    • Because people will tend to own less personal belongings, moving will also be easier, so if you want to go from an apartment with no office room to one that has one, it’s not hard.
